Multaka North East: Digital Exhibition

This digital exhibition features a curated selection of artworks and objects from the Tyne & Wear Archives and Museums (TWAM) Collections, chosen by seven dedicated volunteers from the Multaka North East volunteering programme. These exhibits showcase themes and topics that hold special significance for the volunteers, representing their diverse interests and lived experiences.

Multaka North East England is a project funded by the Esmée Fairbairn Foundation and delivered by Tyne & Wear Archives & Museums across our 9 venues. Throughout the programme, volunteers have received support from project coordinator Nicola Maxwell in exploring the museum’s collections across venues.

The volunteers have developed their ideas through regular meetings with specialist staff at the Laing Art Gallery, as well as wider training opportunities, culminating in this multilingual digital exhibition co-curated and produced by Art Matters Now.
